How do students at St. Paul Catholic School perform academically?

Students at St. Paul's are well prepared to tackle any academic challenge before them. Our classroom percentile averages on the most recent Terra Nova NEXT assessment were multiple points higher than the Florida Catholic Schools' percentile average and the Diocese of St. Petersburg Schools' percentile average across every academic subject in every grade level.

Our graduates often go on to earn Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and other high academic rankings in highschool. Some of our gradutes currently attend or have attended MIT, Standord University, Brown University, The University of Notre Dame, The University of Florida, Florida State University, and other prestigious academic programs. We are very proud of the foundation they built here at St. Paul Catholic School.

What is the Home & School Association?

The main focus of the Home & School Association is fundraising and fellowship. It is a great way to build community among Association members, parents and teachers, as well as the practical aspects of raising funds to support our School. Being a member of the Association is a great way to support your children's education, meet new parents and share your ideas to further enhance our children's school. In addition to providing fellowship opportunities, our Association raises funds for the school. The Home & School Association, through the creation and organization of multiple fundraising and community building events, is vital to St. Paul Catholic School.

How does the school choose which textbooks to use?

Our school forms a textbook committee comprised of several experienced teachers and the principal or assistant principal. They review the major publishers and consider several things prior to making a recommendation. Among considerations is how well the text aligns to the standards being taught (we use the Diocese of St. Petersburg's Standards and Benchmarks which mirror the Florida Sunshine State Standards. This year we added the National Common Core Standards), the complexity of the text, on-line support, leveled readers and supplemental materials. The committee makes a presentation to the staff and principal and makes their recommendation. The final purchasing decision rests with the principal.

Are parents charged for textbooks?

All textbook costs are included in the annual tuition amount.
