Music

Every student has music class at least once a week with younger grades meeting with greater frequency. EC3 - 5th Grade meet twice a week. Middle School students meet once a week. In music class students prepare for our weekly liturgy, study religious and secular song literature, become familiar with music of great composers, study and learn to play classroom percussion and folk instruments, move creatively to music, learn traditional folk dances of the world, study the many musical concept including pitch, melody, rhythm, timbre, form, dynamics, etc. Standards and benchmarks from The Sunshine State Standards for Music are used in planning and implementing active, participatory lessons. Grade 3 - 5 students also learn to play the recorder in preparation to being offered instruction.
